Community involvement
Explore how we engage with our campus community of students and staff as well as our local community to educate on sustainability and demonstrate the activities and actions that we do to in relation to improving sustainability.
Our objectives
- To ensure that staff and student voices are heard.
- Increase community engagement with events, activities and actions that Edge Hill University undertake regarding sustainability.
- Partner with local charities as part of the Big Campus Clear Out to ensure that items do good in the local community.
Targets
- Run a Sustainability Fair annually to engage staff, students and the wider community – promoting sustainability, ongoing target. Next to be completed during the 2026/27 academic year.
- Run the annual Big Campus Clear Out to reduce waste and partner with local charities to ensure donated items do good in the local community. Ongoing target: next to be completed during the 2025/26 academic year.
- Improving staff, student and community engagement around sustainability at EHU via stakeholder engagement process, for example having staff and student representation at relevant meetings such as the Institutional Sustainability Committee membership, and going out to consult on new policies, procedures etc. Ongoing target: next to be reviewed at the end of the 2025/26 academic year.
